Triple Homicide Trial. Donald Hartung Senior is on trial for the premeditated first degree murder of his mother, 77-year-old Voncile Smith, and his two half-brothers, Richard and John, aged 47 and 49.
All were found dead in the family’s Florida home in July 2015. The murders were initially suspected to have a ritualistic aspect in connection with a recent blue moon, but prosecutors later revealed that Hartung's motive was to become the sole beneficiary of any and all inheritance.
