Doctor Teresa Sievers’ dead body was discovered in her Florida home on June 29 2015. The state’s theory is that her husband Mark Sievers, 51, orchestrated the murder. He recruited childhood friend Curtis Wayne Wright Jr., 51, who in turn recruited Jimmy Rodgers, 29, to help out. When the victim returned home alone from a New York vacation, Wright and Rodgers ambushed her in her home and ended her life.
In August 2015, police arrested Jimmy Rodgers, and were able to build a case from evidence sourced with the help of Rodgers girlfriend at the time, Taylor Shomaker.
Lee Circuit Judge Bruce Kyle said the murder of Teresa Sievers, 46, was one of the most horrific he has seen.

Rodgers originally faced a first-degree murder charge and the possibility of the death penalty, however the Lee County jury found Rodgers guilty of the lesser charge of second-degree murder, as well as trespassing, on Oct. 23 2019. Life in prison is the maximum sentence for that verdict.
