Joel Michael Guy Jr. was accused of murdering his parents Joel Michael Guy Sr., 61, and Lisa Guy, 55, in 2016. His parents were discovered stabbed and dismembered, their remains placed in different rooms of the house.
It is alleged that Joel Guy Jr. killed his parents after they told him they would no longer pay his bills.
Joel Guy Jr. had given the judge permission to impose the death penalty if he was found guilty. The state did not pursue the death penalty.
